• RaidEye is a tool for monitoring Mac OS X software RAID volumes status. RaidEye is able to detect if a RAID volume has damaged or missing members, and can alert the user with a repeating sound and sending an email with a detailed report of RAID status.
"Auto start monitor" is an option to start the RAID monitor when RaidEye is launched. So you can put RaidEye to your login items list in order to keep RAID sets controlled automatically.
RaidEye can also rebuild damaged mirrored RAID sets. The best way to try RaidEye is to create a small raid with 2 or more USB pens or ipods, and to create/destroy/rebuild software RAID sets. Use Disk Utility to create RAID sets the first time. Please note: use this tool at you own risk.
RaidEye is a Universal Cocoa-Applescript frontend for the command line tool "diskutil". RaidEye is freeware and opensource.
• RaidEye e' uno strumento per il monitoraggio di volumi RAID software. Con RaidEye e' possibile verificare l'integrita' dei membri di un set RAID mirror o stripe. Se il RAID ha un membro danneggiato o mancante RaidEye vi avvisa con un allarme acustico e opzionalmente puo' spedire una email con un rapporto dettagliato sullo stato del volume RAID monitorato. Il modo migliore per verificare il funzionamento di RaidEye e' quello di creare un semplice set RAID di 2 o piu' penne USB o iPod; per creare il RAID inizialmente si dovra' utilizzare Utility Disco.
La funzione "auto start" consente di lanciare il RAID Monitor automaticamente all'apertura di RaidEye. In questo modo e' possibile aggiungere RaidEye ai login items per renderne automatica l'esecuzione ed essere sicuri che i volumi RAID siano sempre sotto controllo.

• What's new on version 1.4 :

- minor bugs fixed and minor code enhancements.
• This version of RaidEye works in userland and has a GUI so it must be run from a locally logged in user. If you want to run the RAID Monitor automatically at system boot, you actually have to activate auto login and add RaidEye as a login item, checking the "auto start" option in RaidEye preferences pane.
RaidEye 2.0 will feature a background mode, nice if you run a server without any user logged in. Please stay tuned.
